0903 Hearthfire

Better late than never, as they say.  It’s been almost a week since Bethesda announced a new add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim called Hearthfire.  This new add-on will be available tomorrow for 400 Microsoft Points via Xbox Live, though a PC release date hasn’t been announced yet.  If the Dawnguard add-on was basically Skyrim meets Twilight (minus the real-life Bella cheating on Edward, natch), Hearthfire is Skyrim meets the Sims; you’ll be […]

0820 Fallout

A Reddit user, who may or may not work or study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, made a mysterious, and perhaps nervous posting on the social news site last Friday, claiming that the next installation of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic series will be set in Boston.   The Reddit poster was quite specific in hinting at Bethesda’s connection with MIT and the possibility of the game taking place in Boston.  In full, the mystery man (or […]

Creative Kills

“Has anyone here played Thief?  No?  That’s what I (thought) though.”   That’s just one of the many comments on the YouTube trailers for Bethesda’s upcoming first-person stealth game, Dishonored.  Yes, it plays out a lot like Eidos Montreal’s Thief series, and many gamers think that this October 2012 release will be a good diversion until the fourth installment of Thief comes out.  But knowing Bethesda, we’re sure there will be a few key […]

Dawnguard 1

We’ve been glued to the continuing saga of Skyrim’s Dawnguard expansion since last week, when Bethesda’s Vice President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines made an announcement that suggested PC and PS3 gamers may have to wait a long time for the DLC.  Then a few days after that, Hines was back on his Twitter feed, allaying the concerns of angry gamers who felt Bethesda was leaving them hanging by releasing Dawnguard outside of the […]

Skyrim Dawnguard

What you see above is yet another image from Pete Hines’ Twitter account.  The Bethesda marketing veep was far from being the most popular man in the gaming community late last week, following a tweet where he admitted Skyrim DLC Dawnguard had not been announced for other platforms.  Many gamers were hoping to see Dawnguard available for the PC and PlayStation 3 following the expiration of its 30-day exclusivity for the Microsoft Xbox 360 platform.  […]

Despite the popularity of Bethesda’s Skyrim as a multi-platform title, it doesn’t appear too likely that we’ll be seeing Dawnguard, the first-ever Skyrim DLC, for the PC anytime soon.   According to Pete Hines, Bethesda Vice President of PR and Marketing, “We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.”  Hines tweeted this unfortunate piece of information on […]

At this point I suppose everybody heard about Dishonored, a “neo-Victorian/Steampunk” First person action, developed by Arkane Studios (guys behind Bioshock 2 or Arx Fatalis) and published by Bethesda.  The game seems to have a Deus Ex play-style, though (from videos) with more detailed possibilities. The combinations of multiple supernatural powers of main character Corvo Atano, who is accused of Empress assassination, will allow for a very wide variety of actions – for example freezing time […]

It is always nice to see when developers do not forget about the players right after initial profit take. Bethesda in 1.6 patch released mounted combat for Skyrim. This feature was requested for long time ( i can totally see why) Bethesda listened, and delivered.  Both melee and ranged combat will be available.  Patch also fixes other issues (details here). This makes me want to re-roll my full Assassin character that I finished Skyrim with and […]

Bethesda set the gaming world ablaze yesterday by posting a solitary game image on their Twitter feed along with a cryptic tweet that simply stated “Tomorrow.” Well, tomorrow has come, and for eager fans who wholeheartedly believed that Bethesda would be announcing the first DLC for Skyrim, they’ll have to accept the trailer for the upcoming first-person action game Dishonored as a consolation prize. Unfortunately for fans, Dishonored is not a new game by Bethesda. […]
