The multiplayer element of Max Payne 3 will be the focus of Rockstar Games’ new downloadable content for the series’ third installment. As Max continues fighting his way through the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil, he will have four more maps to explore, including the Club Moderno nightclub, the Esado Do Galatians stadium. The two other maps are the O Palacio Strip Club, which is pretty much self-explanatory, and the rough neighborhood of Favela Heights. New weapons will be included as well, such as the IA2 Assault Rifle and M24 Sniper Rifle.
All four maps in general focus on the multiplayer experience, according to Rockstar’s description of the DLC. These maps, say Rockstar, are “specially designed for online action”, even if some of them are a bit reminiscent of single player levels. Rockstar specifically mentioned Max’s encounters with the Comando Sombra and Cracha Preto in the early goings of single player mode – these would come into play at Club Moderno and Estadio Do Galatians. Then there’s O Palacio and Favela Heights – these maps are all about “new, highly detailed favela territories from Max’s descent into the gang-infested neighborhoods of the city.”
Also, the Filhos de Ogum street gang would make their debut in this DLC. Loosely translated in English, that means “sons of Ogum.” The photo above depicts the U.F.E. shooting it out with Filhos de Ogum at Favela Heights. There are two other screens for the Hostage Negotiation Pack, and you can check them out here, courtesy of Rockstar Games.
Other perks gamers can receive from this DLC include the Intimidation Mask, which slows down opponents’ reload times, the Bomb Suit, which would protect Max from explosions, and the Explosive Burst booby traps. Rockstar said that there should be more DLC to come in the future, plus a chrome weapons bonus which Rockstar Social Club members can redeem for no charge. The Hostage Negotiation Pack will be out “later this fall”, and will cost $10 for the PC version.
