Square Enix will be releasing several DLCs for Sleeping Dogs next month, and while none of these DLCs add anything to the main storyline, you can expect each of them to add some spice to the game and allow you to do some neat stuff you couldn’t do previously.
The Street Racer Pack would, according to the folks at Square Enix, allow players to “burn rubber on four wheels” and then some. But don’t expect to be confined to cars and bikes in this particular DLC. Speedboat races will be included in the Street Racer Packs, together with the standard car and motorcycle races. Three racetracks will be available on the DLC – Kamikaze, which takes you to Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak, the Cross Island Enduro, which is the motorbike race (an “epic endurance motorcycle race”, to be exact) and the self-explanatory Harbor Run boat speedboat race. Players will get a powerful and fast Sting Bike and a Dragon outfit (helmet and jacket) to protect against vehicular accident and gunfire damage.
If you’d rather play Sleeping Dogs as a cop, you’ll have twenty ways to do so in the SWAT Pack. You’ll be given an especially damage-resistant SWAT Tactical Uniform, which you can use in the twenty different police missions, as well as a SWAT van which you’ll be using to make your way around Hong Kong.
The third DLC is the Tactical Soldier Pack, which would again give you some tough armor on top of one of the most powerful weapons available in Sleeping Dogs. As a soldier, you can use the Assault Rifle from two actual Sleeping Dogs missions – this, apparently, is THE most powerful weapon out there, thanks to the grenade launcher located under the barrel. Each item on this DLC will come with 50 percent damage resistance from bullets.
Lastly, Square Enix is offering a Community Gift Pack – a surprise, to be sure, though the fact that it’s free has already been announced. I guess we’ll have to wait till October before we find out what that surprise is.
