A leaked document from Ubisoft addressed to gaming retailer GameStop suggests that the French company is putting together a team of developers who would be creating post-release downloadable content (DLCs) for Assassin’s Creed III.
In essence, Ubisoft’s letter to GameStop was congratulatory in nature, thanking the retailer for helping them “assassinate announcement pre-order goals.” As the letter further stated, “(Ubisoft is) currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin’s Creed III will undoubtedly deliver.” Additionally, the team behind Assassin’s Creed will soon be accepting pre-orders and offering a “Season Pass” deal for gamers. It wasn’t specified what type of DLC would be offered, neither did Ubisoft clarify what’s in it for gamers if they order the Season Pass. But this leak has enough to whet any Assassin’s Creed fan’s appetite while waiting for October 30, which is when the title will be released on multiple platforms, including PC.
Despite the lack of details, we believe that Ubisoft has some big plans for Assassin’s Creed III’s downloadable content. And we’re confident it will be more than just a few sets of complimentary wallpapers, but something that would really add some essence to the game. Could this be what Ubisoft had hinted at once, a gaming environment featuring more Desmond in the present day than ever before? Or perhaps a chance to play as a female assassin, like on the PS Vita exclusive Assassin’s Creed III – Liberation? It could be anything. Regardless, the prospect of several DLCs for Assassin’s Creed III suddenly has many of us interested in the American Revolution in ways we had never imagined.
