Well, I guess the Diablo 3 release haven’t passed anyone by, it gave us antoher look into Blizzard’s way of handling releases, in other words, make people pay for a preorder which costs 15 – 20% more just to play at the release while the servers aren’t available untill 2 hours later, probably due to the fact that they didn’t spend enough money on server clusters. Well that and the complaining on the forums aside, it went quite smooth overall, at least if one is not so stressed out about being the first online.

So I rushed through all four acts last night, and I must say, everyone who droped complaints about it before the release, they were completely wrong, the Diablo feeling is still there, but I guess the first run is a little easier than in Diablo and Diablo 2, although the difficulty raises so don’t worry. I haven’t had time to check up on all characters so I can’t say if all of them are fun to play, but Demon Hunter is.

Well, all that aside, I must say I kind of like the zones and dungeons, they’re not as dull as in Diablo 2 and there is a larger variety of monsters, and more annoying minibosses, they are not harder per say, they’re actually easier but they have more variety in abilities, like walling you in, pulling you to them etc. not just the larger AoE lightning or fire as well as teleport. My personal favourite are the Vortex monsters who keep pulling you to them, possibly the most annoying thing I’ve ever encountered in the whole Diablo series.

I’ve mainly just been speed leveling to get to Inferno as fast as possible as I want to find out what kind of possibilities I can get from the real currency auctionhouse, basically I want to find out if it could be an actual money source or if it’s just another 50 cents per item salesmarket. Hopefully the prices stay at least around 10 dollars for good items so one could get something out of it, although I really have no intention of buying anything myself. If it’s actually possible to make some decent money from playing the game it is not too bad, although I know there has been a lot of complaining about the real currency auctionhouse, but it’s still better than the “black market” sales in Diablo 2.

All in all Blizzard have done a good job with the game, yes there are the little things as always, but there is nothing wrong with the game in general, and the stoyline and storytelling is better than before, mostly because you find lore books all over the place. I’m not sure about class balance yet, but I would asume that they aren’t that balanced, although it is rather irrelevant as PvP is not yet available, but Demon Hunter seem to be quite over powered for any kind of PvP encounter, I really don’t see how anyone would be able to catch you. Although I do not know exactly how all the other classes work so I guess there could be some kind of gap closing mechanics and stuns which makes it a little easier.

Appart from that I must say, I do understand that there may be login problems at the time of the launch, but the fact that the same problems persist today is outside of my understanding, yes I guess people are still logging on like crazy, but they should’ve had time to sort out what was wrong last night and fix it. But perhaps that’s just my personal opinion.
