As a huge fan of RPGs and mostly Japanese and Korean RPGs I feel like Tera could be magnificent. Tera is a upcoming MMORPG, and yes I know you’re all thinking “ewww another copycat game”. Well, I asume that is nothing but fair, most new MMOs have been horrible, but Tera introduces a more hardcore style of play, in other words dynamic combat, basically your gear will only be a minor difference to your success, your skill and timing will determine most of it. And how do they achieve that? Well, apparently most of the skills will be skillshots, and there is no click to target.
Hopefully Tera will give us a decent MMO, as lately we’ve seen nothing but failures, sure Star Wars the Old Republic was okay, for a while, untill one realised that there is no endgame content. The team behind Tera have promised to add some epic endgame content, a large amount of quests, an incredibly large world with more than 80 zones, 600+ new mobs as well as 7 races and 8 different classes to play around with. And from what we’ve seen so far the graphic layout is nothing but stunning, and hopefully the character models will feel natural, unlike the jelly characters introduced in games like Guildwars.
As Tera has no prebuilt factions you will have to create your own political alliances as time goes on, which makes the game more interactive and hopefully more entertaining. And what is even more interesting about the game is the fact that there is no such thing as defensive, or tank characters per say, you are forced to dodge attacks and dodge them well if you wish to go up against the higher level foes. Tera is set for release on May 1st, so we will see it in stores on thuesday.
