The Kickstarter phenomenon continues. Crate Entertainment, the team behind ARPG Titan Quest has been toiling away on Grim Dawn – the spiritual successor to their critically acclaimed hit – for the past several years. And like so many other large independent teams before them, Crate has turned to Kickstarter for help.

Representatives at Crate have stated that the funding will not go towards the creation of the game, but towards allowing their part-time employees to work on the project full-time.  Based on several screenshots and a short gameplay video it appears that they’re not lying – most of the core mechanics are in place.

In just one full day, Grim Dawn has received over $120,000 worth of contributions, and if history is any indicator the final tally will likely shatter their initial $280,000 goal.
